Our coffee
Where does your coffee come from?
We source directly from small producers across Mexico: Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Puebla. Every lot has a name and a face behind it. We roast in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Is this specialty coffee?
Yes. All our coffees score 85 points or above on the SCA scale. We work with producers who use sustainable and regenerative agriculture practices, and we pay prices that make that possible.
Why only Mexican coffee?
Mexico has 640,000 square kilometers of jungle. Access to the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean. Volcanic soil and three mountain ranges. Over 26,000 plant species and 2,700 animal species. The conditions to produce as much variety in tasting profiles as the entire world combined.
But more importantly, we are Mexican. Born and raised there. Denmark showed us specialty coffee culture. We want to show Denmark what Mexico has to offer.
Working exclusively with Mexican producers is how we guarantee a real relationship. Everyone claims this. Almost nobody does it. It's not just that we speak the same language. We can talk eye to eye. We can talk about politics. We can talk about the cartoons we grew up watching together. We talk about what we need from each other to keep working together and elevate the quality every year.
When is it best to brew your coffee?
Coffee stores a large amount of CO2 immediately after roasting, which is gradually released over the first two weeks. We recommend waiting at least a week from the roast date before brewing, for more consistency and clarity in the cup.
How should I store my coffee?
In the bag, sealed, at room temperature, away from light and heat. No fridge needed. Once open, use it within 3 to 4 weeks.
Orders & shipping
Do you ship outside Denmark?
Yes. We ship to all countries in the European Union. Rates and times vary by destination. You'll see the options at checkout.
How long does delivery take?
2–3 business days within Denmark. 4–7 business days for the rest of Europe. You'll get a tracking link when your order ships.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email hola@komunacoffee.com as soon as possible. If your order hasn't been shipped, we'll sort it out. Once it's been shipped, we can't make changes.
Subscriptions
How does the subscription work?
Every month, you receive two 250g bags of Mexican specialty coffee, a curated pairing selected by us. Your subscription renews on the same day each month at the same price. Pause or cancel anytime, no questions asked.
I can see the subscription price has increased. What does this mean for my existing subscription?
If you signed up at 240 DKK, your price is locked. You keep that rate until you decide to cancel. We won't charge anything extra without your explicit consent.
How do I cancel?
From your account page under "Manage subscription." No questions asked. If you run into trouble, email hola@komunacoffee.com.
Silent Club
Where is SILENT CLUB?
Bredgade 73, Copenhagen, inside a shared design showroom space.
Is it true that one needs to be silent and not speak?
Not at all. We call it SILENT CLUB because Arturel makes art with acoustic panels. The panels make the room silent, so you don't have to be.
Are all coffees on the website available at SILENT CLUB?
Yes. Come try any of them before purchasing or committing to the subscription. Our baristas will also share tips so you can brew the same way at home.
