Pocitos: A family legacy ๐Ÿ‘‘

A family legacy

Carlos Cadena's great-great-grandfather grew coffee in Cosautlรกn de Carvajal, Veracruz. So did his great-grandfather. And his grandfather. And his father. By the time Carlos was born, coffee was the language his family spoke. But it was his father who made a quiet, consequential decision: to grow less, and grow better.

This was before anyone called it "specialty coffee." There were no competitions to enter, no premium buyers knocking on the door. It was simply a belief that quality was worth pursuing for its own sake. Carlos watched that. Absorbed it. And when he finished his studies and came back to the farm, he started from that belief, and went further. He introduced more careful pruning, grafting of new varieties, controlled fermentations, and the natural process. One generation's instinct became the next generation's craft.

In 2012, Pocitos placed 6th at Mexico's Cup of Excellence. In 2023, 3rd place worldwide.

What's in your cup

Pocitos is a Mundo Maya variety (another variety exclusive to Mexico). Naturally processed with a 72-hour fermentation.

This coffee is the perfect combination of funky and round. Sharp notes of sour cherry candy, but not sour. It has a sweetness that comes around fast and sits perfectly in your palette. A natural, people who are not into naturals like, and people who are, love. So easy to brew: thin or course, over-extracted or under-extracted, it is hard to go wrong.
